How long would it take to become a medical billing & decoding?

I'm 49 :(

  • This is something I may be looking into as well. This is done at home right? I know a woman who has been taking classes for more than a year but I don't think she is motivated.

  • decoding? nope, just coding....i'm thinking less than a year but coding isn't as easy as it seems. you have to remember alot of icd-9 and cpt codes GL

  • Okay,, go to work in a doctor's office, and they can teach you,, offer to answer the phone etc,, my husband manages an orthotic office, and they train their people how to do this,, if your looking to do it from home it is almost impossible anymore,, don't pay the money for school, just find a place to teach you--his current office manager makes over $50 K per year, and started at $8 per hour less than 3 years ago!
