new here/but local dss finally sent me a check in jan.$5,511.54 for my back child support
was happy then a week ago i got letter that i now owe them this money back/what the? is federal law 98-378 tax refund/i am so outraged;i feel that me and my son deserved this after all the hard times we had to face and times he could not have things he wanted/broke my heart till i took a stand and demanded dss and his dad to do their part cause raiseing a child alone is hard at times/anyway here i am -i seen site about someone with same problem-am i the only one who thinks this is wrong and needless to say i have bad nerves -on medicine-and i don't need this- got enough to worry about[bills& e.t.c. any advice on my problem?

Did you get any PA during all of this time? they can take his Tax Return-but then turn around and make you use that mney to pay back what the county spent on PA for you such as medical etc.
