What does it mean if your ear infection has a red tint to it?

my son is 21 mo old n has tubes in both his ears. recently on wed i was told he had an ear infection it was draining a clear color but now it has a red tint? is this something that should be seen right away, we are currently out of state and he is on MS Medicaid so i would have to pay out of pocket and when i called nurselink b/c i was not in the state of MS they would not help me. can this wait till monday when we get bak or no?

  • Is he on antibiotics already? Does he have fever? Does it hurt? If it's just a slight reddish tint and it stops, it could be that the tube moved and that's a bit of blood. I'd keep a close watch on him and if any of the other symptoms occur or if the reddish tint gets worse or doesn't stop, then go to the ER. Either way, call your Dr, on Monday. Good luck.
