  • no. getting food in the lungs is called aspiration and it doesn't happen easily. pneumonia is a bacterial or viral infections.

  • You can get aspiration pneumonia (especially in the elderly)...often it can be tied to swallowing problems (speech therapy is a good plan). So yes, you can get aspiration can cause the fever, shortness of breath...all the symptoms you think of with 'regular' pneumonia...
