quick question

if you only made 392.00 in the time you worked somewhere and on ur w-2 it just has the 392.00 and there were absolutely no taxes taken out what do you do? do you have to file it?

  • Yes, because you have a W-2 which means they reported the income to the IRS. Not to mention that you didn't pay taxes, they may want some of it. This happened to me to this year, but mine was only $350.

  • Yes you have to file it.You will have to pay an alocated amount.If you keep working,as self-employeed you should get payment slips to pay the IRS as you work.

  • it wasnt self employed its just i didnt make enough each check for them to take out anything and i had claimed 1 on my paper to fill out so they wouldnt take much out on my check. i only got like two checks i hated that job.the hours sucked so bad i went to work for like 3 hrs and thats it.

  • No, you don't have to file... read this, fom the IRS:

    File a return

    Three things must be considered when determining whether you have to file a return: your age, your filing status and your income. Generally, once you reach a certain income level, the law requires you to file. The amounts are adjusted annually for inflation.

    For 2008 tax returns, individuals younger than age 65 must file if they make at least:

    $8,950 as single filers.
    $11,500 as head of household filers.
    $17,900 as married couples filing jointly and both husband and wife are younger than 65.
