Did you know there are 35,000 Lobbyists?

Did you know there are 35,000 Lobbyists on Capital Hill and each one has his or her own agenda for getting bills passed and pork funding? I see this as a waste. There whould be 1 Lobbyist per state. Think of all the money the taxpayers would safe without all the special interest groups blowing in the ears of our leaders. What is your opinion?

  • Yep I knew but not all lobbyists work for the state they reside in, they have individual things they want to see passed as well that can go beyond just the state they are in.
Do you know how lobbyist got their name? They used to wait in the lobby of a hotel one of the presidents stayed in and wait to talk to him about their agenda.

  • There are only 35,000? I think it's clear that we have power hunger, greed and special interests running this country. It's criminal, pitiful and it's going to take a revolution to change it.

  • We need lobbyists. They are the only way anyone who makes less than 6 figures can have their voice heard effectively. Writing letters to your congressman is nice, but realize that it's a 1/100 chance they're actually going to read it - most likely an aid will, and then add it to a stack of similar letters that won't get read, just summarized. The problem is the system is corrupt and they need stricter guidelines about what they can and cannot do. The new restrictions on gifts is a good start (see, Obama isn't totally bad) but the problem is deeper than that.

  • Lobbyists do SOME good work. There are lobby groups for children, for retired people, etc. Do some more research before you attack all lobbyists.

  • lol, lobbyist, and to think that NObama said several times that he wouldn't appoint any lobbyist in his administration, but lets begin with Biden.......! There are extremes to every aspect in life. Though there are lobbyist who are truly trying to do something good for the people with the absence of greed and self worth agenda, the majority overshadow them with their greed and self worshipping agenda. It is these greedy lobbyist who ruin it for "we the people". That is why it is vital that the less government in our lives, the better we are. More government equals more lobbyist greed which costs US MORE TAXES! NObama is a president who believes in socialism and pork spending / lobbyist agendas, MORE government.

  • I agree, we do not need lobbyists per say. The states should be the only lobby there is. If your state needs money for whatever, the governor should be the one asking for and giving reasons for monies needed. We do not need big businesses lobbying for themselves (tax breaks, contracts etc) If they can't make it on their own within the stated guidelines then they should be allowed to fail.
