my 2 and a half year old, poor thing, is sooo sick. she just started preschool last week (the same one i work at and there is definitely something going around cause all my infants are sick too) and woke up with a fever yesterday morning. it wasn't too high, 100.6 i believe it was. she functioned well despite it and i kept it under control with motrin and tylenol. she did start to develop a raspy cough later yesterday evening.
well this morning around 5 am, she woke up crying, and it was such a deep throaty cry, so i think her throat must be killing her. i went in her room and she said "i spilled it" and i said "spilled what?" and she pointed to her mouth lol! poor sweet baby. she threw up all over her pillow. i changed her clothes, brought her into bed with me and went downstairs to get her some motrin, the thermometer and some water. at that time her fever was an alarming 104. she was breathing quite heavily and loudly and could barely sit up without my help or keep her eyes open.
an hour later thankfully she had sweat most of it out.
i want to take her to urgent care when they open in a couple of hours but can they really do anything for her? im sure its just a viral thing and i need to keep her hydrated. however that cough might be cause for concern.
Urgent care is okay in a pinch, but I would take her to her regular peds dr on Monday morning.
