4 Bumps

Sometimes i cant believe the responses i get from people.

I work in the office that the jury duty notices come from (please dont hate me for that LOL).
I know most everyone hates showing up for jury duty, but come on people have some shame and use your brain just a little.
Here are some excuses i get from people:
I have diarreah. (they will call with this one a week in advance)
I am bipolar
I have allergies
I have to milk my cow and i am the only one that can do it.
I dont want too unless i know what the case is about.

Then there are those calls that come in that people are claiming an exemption and want to know how they get the card back to us. We tell them you can either drop it by our office or mail it into the address on the card.
Then they will say "well how do i do that, i put it in the mailbox and it came back"
Well, did you put it in an envelope and put a stam on it?
There like "no, i have to do that?
Well yes, it is just like mailing anything else.
I know most of us on here could claim the exemption for having children to take care of, but have you ever tried to use a crazy excuse before. LOL

  • People are just stupid sometimes, I swear. I worked in a coffee shop. And on Christmas day, the line was around the block.. so people had to wait at least 2o minutes to order. People would get to the front, and look around like they had no idea what line they were in. Like "Oh we are in a coffee shop. Oh wow, like, I dont know what I want yet."
Ya, we sent them back to the end of the line. I was thinking "did you get in the line, not knowing what the line was for? and after you got into the shop, you still didnt realize what the line was for??" Stupid!

  • I could come up with a more believable excuse. "I'm allergic to the cows I have to milk and that causes me to have to take more of my bipolar medications which then causes me to get diarrhea for more than a week".

  • I was only called for jury duty once in my life. I was supposed to report to a bad area in Chicago. I just kept shredding the notices because 3 months later we moved out of the county.

Now, there is an excuse I could believe. LOL

  • hottie, in all seriousness, in the office i work in we have never actually issued a fine or anything. I dont know about much larger counties though.
We are very small, and most of the time if we summons 300 people, only about 75 show up. We get a lot back with exemptions, but we also get a ton of them back with bad addresses.
Because they go regular mail there is no way to proove the person actually got it.

  • The jury computer seems to love me, I have been called 5 times. My fifth time is coming up next week. I took my chances each time except the one before this. It was the middle of tax season and being a CPA, it would be difficult for my firm to be without me. I did let the judge know one of the times that I was breastfeeding, but there weren't many cases so I took my chance. So, far I have not been picked. This next one is for the grand jury. Not sure what to expect with that.

  • I was only called for jury duty one time. Guess when I was scheduled? The due date for my first child. LOL. So, yeah, not like I could have been there delivering in the jury box. hahaha

  • For grand jury, they very rarley let people off. Here the grand jury is made up of 12 people. They are called in once a month for 6 month terms, and they are the ones that decide weather a case is indicted or not. Larger counties have it more often, that is the way it is for our county. You will probably like that. I always wanted to get picked for that. LOL

  • Jury Duty pay is a load of BS! $13 dollars where I am $13 fucking dollars for the entire day when I make $100 plus a day. Fuck that shit.
