At what age will you allow your child to have some soda?

I know some Moms don't drink soda and will never let their child have some. I respect your choice but this question is posed to the Mothers that one day will.

  • It all depends on how you feel about it. Dont worry about what other people think. I'll let my kids take sips here and there. But when we are out it is usually sprite or milk.

  • Its just so unhealthy...strips calcium from your body. Ideally after puberty, but I don't think you can really control what your kid eats all the time after 12. Besides if you can't have beer with pizza, soda really is the only thing that compliments it well. Everything in moderation.

  • My oldest will be 8 in March and I just started letting her drink Sprite if we go out to eat (which isn't very often).

  • All my kids drink soda I dont see a problem with it when they are school aged. Obviously like anything else it shouldnt be overdone. I would say around 4 yrs old I started letting them have sprite, 7up, rootbeer or orange soda since most of the time those have no caffeine.

  • I STARTED TO LET MY SON DRINK SODA WHEN HE WAS 18 MONTHS. BUT I ALSO TALKED TO THE DOCTOR FIRST HE SAID 3 OZ A DAY. I ONLY GIVE HIM 1 OZ A DAY BECAUSE I THINK 3OZ. IS TOO MUCH.

  • i doubt i'll ever give it to her. but i won't go ape shit if she has some at a slumber party when she's older or something. it's just so unhealthy in general, & terrible for children. my 15mos old only drinks water & i'm gonna keep it that way. if she wants sweet later, there's always fruit juice.

  • My 3 y/o DD drinks "soda" infrequently. She thinks that flavored seltzer is "soda" though. I'll keep it that way as long as possible.

  • I think school age (6 or 7) is an appropriate age to let them have soda on special occasions.
