horrible cough

my 6 month old son started coughing yesturday. hes never been sick before, so what should i do? its kinda flemmy sounding and his nose has been bothering too, plus i think he's teething! i've been giving him tylenol to help him, but it just helps him fall asleep after an hour of fighting it

  • If you have a humidifier put it in his room, elevate the head of his crib mattress slightly to put him in a more upright position. We use Vicks Plug Ins. they put off a vapor aroma in the air and help open things up. You can also put a onsie on him that you don't are much about and rub some Vicks vapor rub on it. If his nose is gunky then you can use salin drops in it to help clear things out with a snot sucker. If he is teething tylenol will help the pain, but you can also have him bite on cold things like frozen washclothes, frozen mini bagels or the cold teethers. If the cough presists then call the dr and have him looked at otherwise this is one of the joys of parenting that we all have to go through. Good Luck.
