I think healthcare costs and the system under which it operates is broken.

The area where we live 10 months out of the year has incredible charges. For example when you go to the pediatrician, this is what is included in your bill - parking lot use, building use, lobby use, exam room use, supplies, utilities, reception fees, nurse fees, doctor fees and then you are charged for services. So a well child visit for my child is $1698. If she needs labs or xrays the charges start all over again for those buldings. In WA the well child visit is $234.00

It is just ridiculous.

  • I moved from Alabama to Tennessee and I was shocked at how expensive healthcare is here. It is rediculous, I posted about my daughter in your other thread, but I made the mistake of going to the ER for a high fever and I couldn't breath. It was the weekend and nothing else was open so I had no choice. Well a breathing treatment and some cough syruyp later I rack up a $1200 bill. In Alabama I had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance, had to have a C-scan done with contrast and all kinds of other things and it cost me less than $1000. It was like a culture shock...lol.
