2 Bumps

A dead mouse is not a new toy!! Just sharing...no question.

I woke up this morning to my oldest daughters' blood curdling scream "MAMA!! GET IN HERE NOWWWWWWWW!"

So like a fool, I go running thinking something is desperately wrong, waking both my DH and the baby. My cat's "big kill" is laying by the shoes in our entry way. The girls are standing over it, and my oldest says "Don't touch it Esther, it is probably just playing dead".

Once I see what it is, I reassure my oldest that it is, in fact, NOT A POSSUM, and it is *really*dead. Seriously? Since the baby was screaming (and the dead thing wasn't on my carpet LOL), I told them just to leave it alone, and that I would take care of it after I nursed and changed the baby.

Fat chance. My middle DD (age 3) came in while I was nursing and said that it wasn't dead, because she smashed it with my vacuum attachment and it "coughed". I told her it did not cough...and to leave it alone.

Right as I finished changing the baby and was about to deal with the mouse, my oldest DD (6) comes in looking really proud of herself, and says "don't worry about it mom...I handled it". I asked her where she put it and told her to wash her hands really well...yeah...she FLUSHED IT DOWN THE TOILET. Shudder.

What is wrong with my children? Hmmm...I guess there was a question in there!

  • My boys would have been winging it by the tail, slapping each other with it... Once we had a horrid mouse problem and I caught several on those sticky traps. My boys peeled them off and stuck them to the oil tank. The poor oil guy came out to fill the tank, I hear him walk around the house and let our a horrendous scream!!!! After he leaves, I go investigate and there's several dead mice in interesting poses stuck to the oil tank!!!! LOL Boys!!!!!

  • LOL!! They're clearly well adjusted children. If it had been MY middle daughter, she would have done an autopsy. Probably on the kitchen counter. With a toothpick

Mine would want to watch it for a few days, then collect the maggots as pets. I think she's going to be a forensic entomologist someday.

  • I have no idea what is wrong with them....but I would be proud that my DD tried to handle it w/o me. I would also be upset that she didn't listen to me as well. Very torn I guess.

And yes, it is not a new toy!!!
