WHY would school start on Friday?

we are looking to move to a different county. Their school starts on a Friday... why? I can understand maybe starting on a Wednesday or a Tuesday but a Friday!? Am I the only one who finds this silly...

wow, I would love it if I was in school.. go one day then off the weekend LOL.. but yeah, thats kinda crazy; what's the point for friday

that is pretty dumb! I think ours is on a Tuesday for Kinder/6th/9th grade (the "new" kids in each school) then on Wednesday for everyone else, it works out pretty nicely actually :)

Most schools around here start on a Monday, the school district we live in starts on a Wednesday, and our virtual school starts on a Thursday this year. I don't like it.

I wonder if it has to do with the number of days they're required to be in school for the entire year. That's the only reason why I can determine why they would do this.
