Help me understand

Why would you report an answer? I have been here for awhile and I think I reported one question and the reason was because I thought it was a guy.

I think it is childish to report someone just because you don't like them or disagree with them.

I am curious as to what reasons cause you to report.

  • Do we report every thing we don't like?

    CM has a specific policy for that word because special needs mothers and children have been attacked here before. Reporting it is absolutely reasonable because it is not blocked by the obscenity filter and is not considered an obscenity, but rather an attack on special needs people. It's not the same as shit, it's the same as the n word for a black person or the k word for a Jew.

  • a woman was saying she was going to kill herself
    everyone that answered was gentle and was trying to talk her down
    except one anon
    that was trying to egg her on
    i reported each of the anons answers
    i 'begged' admin to take off these answers
    never heard a word from admin
    and the anon person saying unbelieveable things to a woman on the edge- these comments stayed up on the board

    admin of cafemom that day made me want to scream

    admin deletes many things on here, but leaves up comments harassing a woman ready to take her own life

  • When it's a known stalker making personal attacks against someone - i.e. a graceless answer
    When it's advertising spam

    The thing is- reporting an answer doesn't automatically get it deleted. Either the answer breaks the rules or the person reporting has an in with someone on the moderation team to get harmless things deleted. There are tons of gay-bashing answers out there in P&CE and RD that have never been deleted, despite being reported by multiple people. There's one person who habitually attacked other people's children, and her answers weren't deleted until people went outside Answers and went directly through the "contact us" with links to each individual answer. Moderation here is colossally inconsistent.

  • I did once long ago. The lady was suicidal and said she was going to kill her kids too.

  • I did it once, like PPs woman was suicidal, but after the canned response from CM- not likely to do it again.
    And seriously just because I don't like someone- whatevs.
