Do you have a rotating menu?

My stepdad has a repertoire of dishes he makes over a couple weeks... it changes with seasons, etc. I always seem to overthink menu planning... What meals do you eat on a weekly or bi-weekly basis? What could you eat everyday? What is your favorite inexpensive meal to make at home?

  • Both new stuff and old standbys. Things like spaghetti, meatloaf, steak, grilled chicken salads, are in constant rotation. But I try to add something new every week or so.

  • I don't plan... I might get to the next day, but that's about it. I try to use what I have in house without leaving, so I take it from there...

  • i plan it for 2 weeks at a time. if i dont we wont have enough food (tight budget) and i buy meat in bulk, cut it up & freeze it. i have to set it out the night before so i have to plan. i have enough meals that we dont eat the same meal in a 2 week span but some are summer only and some are winter only. i also add in a new meal at least once a menu plan just to change things up.

the meal i could eat everyday & its cheap, is Turkey Rice. its ground turkey, can of mushroom soup, rice, water, and soy sauce. awesome! but its a winter only...takes an hour to cook & makes the whole house hot!

  • I have about 10 things we tend to have pretty standard, but I mix up the side dishes and sometimes the spices so it doesn't get old. Weekly we have bbq chicken breast because my oldest loves it and my other 4 like it. Homemade chicken tenders are a big hit with all my kids. We have "breakfast" for supper almost weekly because it's cheap and easy (eggs, grit, bacon and biscuits, sometimes sausage and/or pancakes). I love burgers on the grill and could eat them everyday, but although my kids eat them, they aren't a favorite. My husband eats anything and everything and loves it. :)

  • I remember sitting for hours and planned an entire months menu and made out a list.  The list was broken down to only two trips to the store for the month and the price was less than $300.  That's $300 to feed 7 people for an entire month.  It was alot of hamburger helper and salads with veggie soup and chili.  I had it all mapped out where I used leftovers for the next days meal or we had leftover night, but couldn't get cooperation from other family members that would help with the cooking.  It kind of ticked me off because now we buy in spurts and I feel we are spending more money than we would have the other way.  Sorry I'm rambling this post reminded me of how I need to do this again and put my foot down...lol.
