how do they measure your belly while pregnant and why?

  • They measure to see how many weeks you are. It is just a way to make sure you are on track. I forget though what the measurements are. They measure I think from your pubic bone to your belly button.

  • They measure from the fundus (top) of the uterus to the pubic bone. The measurement (in centimeters) should be roughly equal to how far along you are (24cm=24wks). It's a quick and easy way to see if baby is growing well, if the measurement is way off, they can do more testing to find out why.
