  • I waited until my kids were showing signs of readiness and interest in going potty. My 2nd wasn't ready until he was almost 3 1/2, my youngest just turned 2 last week and she's ready now.
I switch mine straight into underwear/panties and take them to the potty every 30 mins or so. I give them 3 m&ms for going pee and 5 for going bm. They like to get m&ms so they try really hard. Don't get frustrated with accidents, just remind them to go in the potty and try again.

  • I started at 18 mos and just wasn't having anything of it. She held her urine for over 5 hours and the instant the last strip on the diaper was done she peed. I started again a few months later and she was potty trained. We moved a few weeks later and she regressed. She started all on her own 6 mos later and was day time trained in a few weeks all by herself. They pretty much do it when they are ready.

  • We started right after DD turned 2 because that is what family was saying we should do. It was a disaster. Tried again after about 3 months...again, disaster. Tried again after 3 months and it just clicked for her. I would take her to the potty every 20 minutes until she got the hang of it and then we just slowly make the time span larger. M&M's as rewards worked great for her (1 after pee, 2 after poo). It did take quite a while before she would announce that she had to go though...that was a bit frustrating.
