I feel like I am too big too fast. I eat a lot but it's all healthy stuff, salads- fruits- vegetables- seeds- I don't get it. I'm 20 weeks today.

So who voted me down? Its the truth. You cannot make yourself a diabetic by to much sugar or weight gain. Gestational diabetes is due to insulin intolerance, not too much sugar intake. Eating too much candy or carbohydrates can cause you to gain too much weight during pregnancy, not diabetes. The pancreas produces insulin but it doesn't lower the mom's blood sugar levels. Now doing so when you are NOT pregnant and eating lots of sugar and such yes, plus the weight gain. While I wouldn't recommend buying out a bakery and eating cakes and cookies, the once in a while candy bar splurge, or eating a few brownies won't cause GD.
