2 Bumps

We hear how many people are unemployed, so where are all the applicants at

The office down the hall is hiring for a full time position. It is a very business type office, pays pretty good and offers full benefits. The lady that works there was just in here and i asked her how the hiring was going and if they had any interviews yet.
She said they had had two interviews so far and it was not looking very promising. She said this one girl came in for an intervies with a mini (apparently very mini) skirt on, see through white top with a black bra and sat in the chair infront of them where everyone could see she was wearing red underwear.
I am guessing the lady was thinking that because the main boss is a main , maybe that would score her some points. LOL IDK
I was like OMG are you serious. What are people thinking. Dress appropriatley for things people. Plus it doesnt help that we are rather small, kind of old fashinond town. When a business office means business attire. She didnt say much about the other intervies just that it wasnt going well.
So are we in the wrong for thinking that attire was completely innapropriate?

  • Where are all the applicants at: I am sure they are there but the office is being picky about who they interview-especially if they are looking for experience or someone with no large gap in employment.
Was her dress inappropriate: of course- it was very unprofessional.

  • Unprofessional dress aside, there is a big difference between applicants vs. interview.

I'm a nurse looking for an administrative job. Highly qualified. Up until this week I didn't get many interviews

  • No you are not. Unfortunately highs schools and many colleges promote "free thinking" and the right to do what you want and forget to tag in there the bits about a time and place for everything.

DD is the office manage for a law firm, not to big and was doing the initial interveiws for hiring and additional parlegal. Two showed up in those pajama botom pants an other looked like he been through a cotton picker and another hadn't bothered to even run her fingers through her hair.
    Sigh.

  • Yes, the attire was completely inappropriate.

I also get cheesed off at people who don't read the ad and understand what they're applying for, or who have hidden agendas. Where I work, everything is laid out on the line: Salary, hours and expectations are all in the ad. We had a position open, and chose two finalists for in person interviews. One of them came in, and she knew NOTHING about the program she's be working for (HELLO! It's all online!), had a problem with the posted work hours and really only wanted to pitch some independent programming she was producing.

The whole interview committee was flabbergasted. And no, we're not picking up her work.

  • I see around here that people don't actually want to WORK work, they want a job where they can screw around and leave after 6 hours of work.
