  • It depends on how much time and energy you have. No matter when she starts learning, she will complete her training at the same age - when she is fully ready.

You can start now if you want. It is called Elimination Communication. You will do all of the work - taking her to the potty, holding her there, repeating every hour all day every day for probably the next year, probably more.

    OR

You can wait until she shows some of the readiness signs to learn. Walking, talking, not liking a dirty diaper, and waking up dry are NOT signs. Going 3 hours between wet diapers is. Asking to use the potty is. Watching you and anyone else she can use the potty is. Then you teach her how to use the potty on her own. You'll still have to remind her and even take her but she will be done learning in a month or two.

Your choice. You know how much time and energy you have.

  • hi id say most kids are ready by the time they are 2 but that is not all kids..............you will know when she is ready . she wont learn it all over night though. first she has to learn what a potty is and not be afraid of it. you can teach her that at any time. she has to be able to tell you she needs to go. she needs to be able to work her clothes. she needs to be able to go a reasonable amount of time between diapers. and she will be showing an intrest in what you are doing when you go. when she develops the " i want to be like mom" stage it is the perfect time to start planting seeds but she will tell you when she is ready to learn. most kids will be completely trained by the time they are 3. if you start now you will only be " catching what she does when she does it." she is not able to grasp the concept of what you will be teaching. your time will be frought with frustration for both of you.

  • I've never had any luck potty training before the age of 3. My oldest son was pee trained by 3 1/2 but wasn't poop trained completely til 4. My daughter was completely trained by just after her third birthday. My younger son was about 3 1/2; I don't even plan on thinking about potty training with m youngest til she is at least 2 1/2, probably closer to 3.
