  • I turned it around at a year. He was too long to sit backwards and he met the weight requirements.

  • Just before he was a year. He was already 22 lbs and his legs were cramped

  • when they got too tall (both before a year old)

  • When they maxed out the height per the manual for the car seat being rear facing (mine were light weights and maxed out height before weight). The MINIMUM is 20lbs AND 12 months, but my children are NOT minimums. They are 5 and 7 years old and the 7 year old is in a high back booster and the 5 year old is still in a 5 point harness. They stay in the safest seat until they outgrow it NOT until the law says is the minimum they have to be in it.

  • On their first birthday. Both of my kids hit 20 lbs before they turned 1 year old, so we had to wait for the birthday.

  • When DS outgrew it, at about 9 - 10 months, I think we probably could have hung on a lil while longer, but it was more about me wanting to be able to see him in the rear view mirror lol.

  • DD was 1. If we had waited until she hit 20lbs she would have been 20mos old. She was so cramped rear facing, she was too long for her carseat to stay rear facing, so we got a new one that was rated for her weight and height.
