Why does my 12yr old son suddenly go mad when he's usually so happy and loving.

At the blink of an eye my son just seems to lose all common sense and starts quoting child line and shouting as we are trying to reason with him. It's so difficult not to lose our temper when he's banging around in his room trying to goad us. Is this normal adolescent behaviour

Yes. Blame it on hormones! The ages from 11 to 13 are particularly difficult. Be patient, be polite and be calm (even if it kills you). If he crosses the line, then walk away, but do not engage him.

mine just turned 16 ...he's a great kid- but damn, he is SO quick to get pissed and he is SO literal with everything it drives me batty
