False lactation? adult content

I wasn't sure what to call this or what category to place it in. I stopped nursing well over three years ago. But when I was holding a newborn in church this morning, and off and on since then, I've felt the letting down of milk in my breasts. Nothing has come out, of course, but what's the deal? I admit I've been thinking a lot about wanting another baby lately, but this is really strange.

  • I've read that this can happen for women even years after weaning. Hearing a baby crying in the mall can trigger it, that kind of thing. (Maybe there's a certain kind of hunger cry that can be more likely to trigger it.) When it does happen, holding a newborn is a common trigger.

I never could recognize the feeling of letdown with any of my nurslings. I just never felt it.

But it has been just over a year since my last one weaned and I can still express a small amount (I've never tried for more than a drop; I do think at this point that it's literally "just a drop" but still.)

  • oops sorry computer error. 3 years ago seems long.... I nursed and then pumped and dumped for about 3-4 weeks and then had to stop and every time I'd hear my son cry I'd leak or have breast pain

perhaps some is emotional, baby fever?

  • No chance you're pregnant now?

Actually, I've gotten that from time to time. Chalk it up to hormones.

  • Since I've had my first 7 years ago, there has never been a time where I couldn't pinch my nipples and have a couple drops of milk come out. I don't know how abnormal it really is, since I have had plenty of other women say similar things.
