false positives

is there such thing as a false positive? how does that happen?

  • That almost never happens. A false neg is way more likely than a false positvie

  • I don't think it is possible. Pregnancy tests only detect HCG and HCG is only present when a woman is pregnant.

  • I will make a slight correction in my first answer. If a woman has just had a baby or miscarriage and all of the HCG is not gone from her body, then she can get a positive without actually being pregnant.

  • yes, you might still have left over hcg. Go to the dr and get a blood test then you'll know for sure.

  • pregnancy test only detect hcg levels so you would have to be pregnant or have had a misscarriage in order to have any hcg in your system. So if you havnt misscarried recently then id say your pregnant.
