3 Bumps

Uh-oh, could this be our next epidemic?

http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/31/health/baby-seals-avian-flu/index.html?hpt=hp_c2

I'm taking a cautious wait & see approach at the moment. Not much more you can do. I hope they find a vaccine before this leaps to humans & spreads.  What do you think about this?

"Bird flu has killed 135 people worldwide, and the virus has not, so far, spread easily among humans."

  • I'm going to make this a conspiracy.

The government is inventing the viruses and introducing them into people/population to kill off the young, old, weak.  Survival of the fittest.

  • The flu will not ever go away, and there will ALWAYS be new ones. The flu virus constantly mutates, even the 'normal' ones vary each year.

There is ALWAYS the possibility of another pandemic. That will also never go away, whether it's a flu or some other bug, it will happen.

The reality is that NO hospital in the US (or the rest of the world) will be able to handle that amount of patients, gov'ts. all over the globe will hoard/dole out food and meds, etc., WHEN it happens. There is nothing anyone can do besides making sure their own family is always prepared unless you choose to be at the mercy of the gov't. I don't worry about the next pandemic. We've got food, water, and just about anything else we will need if we aren't among the dead ~ and that applies whether it's a flu, a natural disaster, or any other catastrophic event. Everyone has that choice. Few make it, but it IS your choice.

  • Everything worries me and anything is a possibility, I truly want to know how these super viruses just all of a sudden pop up and kill people and cause this hysteria. Its weird to me.

  • Flu viruses mutate very quickly and easily. Sometimes I think the production of a new flu vaccine nearly every year may actually be helping the virus mutate and become more drug resistant. For years dr.'s over prescribed antibiotics and now we have things (super bugs) that are really resistant to available antibiotics. Sometimes in the effort to keep people from becoming ill with something, they end up with a stronger, more resistant form of the illness they were trying to prevent.

  • At this point I am far more concerned about the increase in gang/gun violence in my neighborhood.

I try not to worry about the various viral illnesses floating around unless it becomes necessary.
