Decorating Terra Cotta Pots

I bought a couple of small terra cotta pots on clearance and was going to give one to our sitter as a thank you gift with a plant in it. What's the best way to decorate the pot? I have some kid's washable paint but would that come off if the pot gets wet? Any suggestions?

  • Do you have Pinterest hootie? They have some great ideas, especially for Halloween. I think you could ask at any flower store though.

  • There are sprays or brush ons that make the pot look like stone which is pretty cool.
You could simply add a ribbon or bow.

  • You can buy mini tiles and make a mosaic on the pot then grout it and seal it with a grout sealer.

You can also go to house sales and get old dishes, break them and use as you would tiles. Some of the older china patterns are really pretty.
