When do you usully find your 'me time' ?

For the last 2 days I have been sending DH to the park around 7pm and than have had some time just for myself. I like it and only am missing little fun out w. them then. How do you manage your day to have little time just for yourself esp. when you're a working mom? I can't imagine my days w. full-time work, cooking and all the other fun... Do you cut on days, have to ask for help from further family /maybe it comes naturally/, or anything else? I simply don't know, and not than I am feeling quilty. Like to anticipate.

  • I am a teacher so I have summers off, and during the school year I was also attending graduate school full time, so I felt too guilty when I got home to spend any more time away from my children than I already was with work and school. Any "me time" I got was after they went to bed for the night.

Even this summer when I am off work and done with school, I still haven't had any "me time" unless you count the couple hours where my MIL offered to watch the kids long enough for DH and I to go get some ice cream and go to Wal-Mart.

I am NEVER completely alone, but I guess I don't feel the need to be. I just want more adult interaction, so I have been trying to compromise with having my friends with their children over. We send the kids outside and talk inside. Today a girlfriend came over for almost 4 hours and the kids were in and out, but we laughed and joked the whole time. It felt like a vacation!

  • I have too much 'me' time. My kids aren't tiny so they don't need me constantly plus during the school year I have all day to myself. I go to school as well but it certainly doesn't consume my days.

  • When I worked, I considered that time away from home my "me time." Now that I don't work, my "me time" is after everyone else goes to bed.

  • I get "me" time on my nights off after my husband goes to bed. I work nights, so I'm usually up until 3 or 4.
