I thought brown eyes are suppose to be more domonint?

I don't get it because that's what I heard but I have brown eyes and dh has blue eyes. My mom has blue and my bio dad has brown. But all 3 of my kids have blue eyes

  • You're right that blue is recessive (meaning brown dominates) but we all have 1 color gene from each parent, so you could have Brown/Blue and DH of course has Blue/Blue. So if you passed on a blue to go w/ DH's blue, you get blue eyed kids. Make sense?

  • Sometimes the recessive genes "win", so to speak.

  • Because your mom had blue and your dad had brown, you have a gene from each of them. Your husband has two blue. So, if your egg had a brown from your father and your husband's sperm has blue only, your child would have brown eyes. If your egg had the blue from your mother and the blue from your father, your child would have blue eyes.

  • I have brown, my husband has blue, three out of four of our kids have brown eyes and one has bluish grey. Funny thing is the one with blue eyes is a twin.
