Are they going to let me adopt a dog?

Me and my DH are trying to adopt a dog from a rescue, we're looking for a Golden Retriever (or a Golden Retriever mix) because my DH already had one. I sent emails with application to different animal rescues and nobody is replying back. Is it possible that they reject us because we have kids? (a 4.5 years old, a 2.5 years old and a 13 months old). We applied for a puppy because I'm a stay at home mom and so there would always be somebody with him. We have a fenced backyard, a good job, vet reference...I really don't understand. We also look at local shelter but there were just pit bull and other breeds that I don't feel comfortable with. What should I do?

Just one of them has a phone number I'll try to call them tomorrow. The other one has no phone number, I tried to contact them throw Facebook and they didn't answer there either.

I applied last week, I know they're very busy but I was at least expecting an email to tell me that they got my application.

It IS possible that they simply have no Goldens or Golden mixes. (they are a very popular breed and let's face it are adopted out just as soon as they are received in most cases) Have you trie this site?

They have more than one, I found them on PetFinder, there were 4 puppies (sibling), I applied for one of them and the day after I applied there was the written: "No longer accepting applications", I thought they took mine in consideration because her identical sibling are still up for adoption, but they didn't contact me. I can wait as long as they want but I would like at least to know whats's going on.

put in a request at the local shelters. i don't know how you get a pet from a place without a phone number!

You do realize they likely had SEVERAL applicants and you may not be the best one, for any of the pups. Or it is possible you were too late as often the applications are reviewed on a first come first serve basis.
