Spiders... :c tips and tricks on keeping them away from me.

so we just moved into our new apartment on monday and I found a spider today. I killed it. but it was a bit bigger than your average black house spider and it was light brown. i'm kinda freaking out lol cause i have a massive bug phobia
so im trying to make sure i know the best ways to keep them away and such
i read about keeping the place clean obviously, cleaning vegetation away from our apartment (will do as best as possible)
but what else can i do? I want to get bug spray that I can spray at the spider and have it die without running off and coming back to find me in my sleep :C
also do spider traps work?

I'm seriously considering taking one of my moms cats to live with us to keep spiders away. ugh I hate them so much :c

  • Spiders are VERY beneficial and keep other nasties away. No matter how clean you keep your house, you will have spiders.

  • my grandmother fills a spray bottle with bleach and water and sprays her front porch every year. but she also has a white house so, she can do that without fear of staining. i don't know what it'd do to any other color siding.

  • I use lemongrass oil mixed with eucalyptus in any base oil, and DE (diatomaceous earth) around the perimeter and under our house. We have wolf spiders here that average a three inch leg span (they look like shaved tarantulas lol) and I much prefer them staying IN the woods lol. So far (three years) it has worked.
