Bull's Eye Bite

Something bit me on the arm last night & I figured it was yet ANOTHER mosquito bite. It didn't hurt, but itched like Hades. Now, there's a bull's eye looking mark around it. All I can find online is stuff about brown recluses & Lyme Disease. Ugh. Has anyone had anything like this that DIDN'T result in an incurable disease or losing half their arm?

  • DOes it still itch? That is a very sensitive area, and I would use itch spray, but watch it, see if it changes in size or shape. If it does, you might want to be seen by a doctor.

  • If it seems like it's growing take a pen and trace a circle around the outside of it and write the time on the line and the reassess a little while later to see if it's getting bigger.  Just from a simple google it seems as though there are several insects that can leave a bulls eye pattern.

  • Yeah, it still itches. It doesn't hurt, burn, or have red lines coming from it. maybe it's just from scratching it so much.

  • I Googled and it seems like it could be a number of insect bites. Just to play it safe, I would definitely be at the nearest Urgent Care first thing tomorrow morning.

  • QuinnMae is right about circling it. Sounds like a tick bite. I'd get in and see the doc but no need to panic.

  • It is likely NOT Lyme disesase. Yes that does form a bull's eye shaped ring, but not usually for a week or longer after you get bitten. There are numerous things that could cause it. I would draw a circle and write the time and then head into the nearest ER or urgent care if your doc can't see you this morning for it. Everything that I know it could be is completely treatable if caught early. Even Lyme disease is curable with antibiotics if caught early enough.

  • My immediate thought was a tick bite. I'd check with my doctor.
