If you don't have a credit card....

how do you rent a car or do things like that?

A friend and I were just discussing that. She is planning a Sea World trip for next summer and they wanted to rent a house or condo instead of a hotel room (CHEAPER and a full kitchen to cook meals in!) but it's major credit card only. I'd never thought about those things before.

  • Debit card.

Even a prepaid one works for things like that.

  • Most Bank Debit cards are Visa.

  • I use my debit card for pretty much everything. If I needed a major credit card then I would get a pre-paid and put just what I needed on it.

  • I always use my debit card for renting vacation homes, but I haven't rented a car in forever. I imagine it would work there too.

  • A secure credit card http://www.bankrate.com/finance/credit-cards/10-questions-before-getting-a-secured-credit-card-1.aspx    Just remember they lock up your account so it's a good idea to have more than one
