You don't have to use beer. You can use wine, broth, and certain juices. Recipe depends on if you want to do it on a grill, a smoker or your oven. Basically this is how we do it. We take a beer can, pop the top and pour half out. Then cut off the top. Rub your chicken with whatever spices you choose. Put one tsp of the same sames in your can and stir. Get the grill ready...about 300-330 degrees.
Put the can on the grill first..Oh check to be sure the chicken and can fit without having to push on it hard before you start. Put the chicken on the can..close the lid and let it roast. Ours are usually about 5 lbs and take around 2 hrs..but we always check the temperature too. In the thigh..but not next to the bone. 175' is ideal for us. Remove the chicken, discard the can and cover the meat with foil..let it sit about 10-12 mins..the eat.
