if something is .99 cents i would buy it but it it was $1.00 i usually say "im not giving a dollar for that" lol
same goes for somethign that is $49.99 instead of $50.00 even tho i know its just a penny more, it seems like its a lot more money! haha

  • Heck yeah.... and when my husbands asks how much something cost I give the lowest rounded dollar amount (shoes were 63.99 +tax= 69.27) but I'll always just automatically say $63. I catch myself sometimes, and he does too. LOL

  • They do that to be able to say it's "under" a certain amount (but it's only a penny under). It does trick people into thinking it is a good price. I personally like nice round, whole numbers.

  • its true what novemberlove said, they try to trick minds so that it doesnt seem so much so they put it a penny below.

    but if i saw something thats 1.00 i usually question it, but luckly in dollar stores there's no price on anything, everything's a dollar!

  • I usually round up in my head so it doesn't really bother me. But I had a friend who would see $4.99 and say "it's only $4" It used to drive me nuts.
