Mother in law wants to pick kids up at 5, take them to a 525 movie. Then to dinner, then shopping for fall coats (all on her dime, and giving me about 3 1/2 to 4 hours of empty house to clean, shower, scrapbook, etc)
Pros.... she never has much desire to see them so this is a huge chunk of time. I get some alone time, and they get a movie and free meal and also fall coats I wont have to buy
Cons... they'll be completely sedentary and possibly bored for 3 1/2 to 4 hours and if they act up she'll blame them (and me) ..
the time line would go she'll rush them to the theater where she'll load them with sugar but then expect them to be seated/still for the whole movie. She wont monitor their drink consumption and then get ticked off them one will need to pee.
They'll immediately goto dinner after where they'll be expected to be seated, still, quiet. Again. More sugar.
Finally a trip to the mall for more obedience and quiet trying on jackets.
She''ll return them to me completely wired with miles of pent up energy and buckets of sugar.

The things you said about having manners-sitting still, being quiet. I would expect any child to do in a movie theater or out to dinner or in the store. But the sugar thing. Is totally different. Tell her just a little sugar not a lot. But she is grandma. We do like to spoil our grandkids.
