Adoption question

not sealed: she is being pressured or even forced by someone (boyfriend, husband, mom, county, state, etc) to do the adoption and her heart isn't really in it. she's invested in the child's happiness and hopes to connect again someday

sealed because it was a secret, the mother was young and her family was embarassed
sealed because the dad is a douche and shw doesnt want the child to ever be hurt by him

both of these reasons played into my closed and sealed placement of a child

not sealed:

Not sealed because she cares about her child's civil rights to have equal access to his birth records as any non adopted person. Most birth mothers and many adoptive mothers are fighting right now to have their adult adopted child's rights enforced.

OPEN Records to ALL adult adoptees! No conditions no qualifications!

Oregon gets it! They balance the rights of both the adoptee and the bmom who wants no contact. They allow a bp to attach a letter of contact preferance (yes, no, or with a 3rd party intermediary) but either way - the adult adoptee GETS their unaltered OBC. No questions asked- no loopholes to exclude any of them. WTG Helen Hill and Bastard Nation!!!!!

Op will you try and obtain any documents that 'promise' disclosure or confidentiality to BP's to go along with your report? Even open adoption adoptees with contact and regular ongoing relationship with their Bp's are barred by law from obtaining their OBC.

As a birthmother, I would not want them sealed - the chance of seeing my birthson again - as an adult is something that gives me and many women like me hope. I do however know several birthmothers - through support groups - who made the unimaginably brave decision to place a child conceived in rape. Many of them choose this option knowing - that if they change their minds later - many states have programs available for them to do so... such as the illinois birth registry program

Not, I guess ...but really depends on the situation and personal views of each individual
