Self-centeredness, from which grows a whole host of problems.

The inability to take personal responsibility!

Too many people screaming tolerance while being intolerant of those with differing beliefs.

Greed & the widening gap of the classes. Intolerance. Hunger & ironically, obesity.

Narcissism, which as gdiamante said produces a whole host of problems.

This ~ and a terrible apathy rather than any serious effort to change things. There are too many people sitting around waiting for the gov't. to 'fix' the mess, but no gov't. can. These problems have to be fixed by the people. Not some people. Not rich people. ALL of the people.

Settling for mediocrity.
