can anyone tell me what the deal is with peanut butter??

  • If you are talking about the recalls, it has absolutely nothing to do with regular jars of peanut butter. (skippy, jif, etc) It was only for bulk peanut butter that was sold to other companies for cookies, cakes, ice cream etc. All companies involved have recalled their products. I highly doubt by now that any of the affected products are in any stores anymore. If they are, the stores need to be reported.

  • There was no oversight at the factory that produced peanut butter used in food products (like the first reply stated, this does not include jars of peanut butter), and because of the lack of safety testing and monitoring, a batch of peanut butter got into the mainstream food supply that was tainted with Salmonella--a bacteria that can cause serious infection and death.
