What do your do with the fat after cooking it?

When cooking the ground beef it lets out alot of fat.

Do you throw it down the drain?

Or do you let it cool off then dump it in the trash?

I wait to cool then throw away it is the best thing to do for your drain...right?

  • I throw it in a can or carton in the garbage or I dump it outside. I hate grease.

  • I drain it into a small cup and then put it on top of my dogs dry food when I feed them that night. They LOVE it.

  • Well, I'm Southern so i actually keep it and use it when i need grease/cooking oil or to make gravy. Why waste all that flavor? LOL

  • I asked a question a while back about pouring it down the sink and was, overwhelmingly, told that was bad. So, I stopped. Now, I pour it into an old jar and toss the jar when it is full. I also pour the used oil from frying chicken in there.

  • I too will save bacon grease to use in cooking later...I do keep it in the fridge though. The rest I let cool and throw out or will as the post above does..give some to the dog.
