Anyone experience on the Essure. Did you have alot of problems with it? Or is getting your tubes tied better. Very important decision for me. Any answer will help.

  • I looked into it but it was still too new and didn't know how long it would take for insurance to cover it. I opted for Paragard IUD (10 years) to give the procedure more time for studies and insurance coverage. I don't have any personal experience with it but here are a few links if you are looking for possible negatives (these obviously won't be the case for every woman).

  • I have used birth control pills, Depo Provera, Mirena IUD, and finished the job with Essure. No problems at all. Cannot say the same for Depo Provera - that shit is the devil. I cannot tolerate synthetic hormones, even in low dose (as a result of DP among many other problems I've had from that), so the Mirena had to come out.

  • PS I was very concerned before I made the decision to get Essure - there are potential risks like anything else. I think tubes tied is reversible? Essure is not...

  • My OB recommended a tubal instead Essure because the long term effects of Essure are still unknown. I got a tubal. It was a lathroscopic surgery, so I just had two tiny incisions, one in my belly button and one just above the pubic bone. It was a day surgery and I was in and out in less than 3 hours including checkin and the time they have you spend in the recovery room until the anesthesia wears off. I felt fine as soon as the anesthesia wore off and resumed my normal routine that afternoon. I am very happy with my decision and have had no problems & it is a huge relief not to be able to get pregnant any more. 4 is enough.
