I'm thinking IQ and a standard general knowledge similar to the GED. My condonlences to anyone already represented by this idiot. Coincidentally, in the same state that just passed a law giving any student a free pass to not do homework they don't want to do, simply by stating it's against their religion.
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Missouri Congressman Todd Akin was keeping a low profile Monday, a day after he said women's bodies are able to prevent pregnancies in "a legitimate rape" situation and that conception is rare in such cases.
Campaign spokesman Ryan Hite said the congressman was making no public appearances Monday, and did not plan any further comments on the issue. He canceled a scheduled Monday morning interview with talk show host Charlie Brennan on KMOX Radio.
The six-term congressman is the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate, opposing Democratic incumbent Claire McCaskill in the November election.
Asked in an interview Sunday on KTVI-TV if he would support abortions for women who have been raped, Akin said: "It seems to me first of all, from what I understand from doctors, that's really rare. If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down."

Yes. IQ tests and some demonstration of education. Akin isn't the only one. Think of all the lawmakers around the country who propose that evolution is just a "theory" (in layman's terms), so it shouldn't be taught in public schools. Think of the congressman in Iowa who thinks that dog fighting should be legal as long as boxing and other human fighting is legal. Think of the lawmakers in Tennessee who voted to ban the word "gay" in public schools because it might somehow become a gateway to homosexual behavior. There are endless examples of sheer stupidity that have been elected to public office. We need stricter criteria, or better vetting.

Yeah, there should be. Luckily the people have heard his stupidity before they have elected him so they still have a possibility for intelligent representation.
Unfortunately, there are representatives that have already been elected that have expressed the same level of stupidity and for some ungodly reason they keep getting re-elected. It's truly amazing.
