How many weeks before giving birth did you have Braxton Hicks Contractions? (if you ever even had them)

I am almost 35 weeks pregnant and a couple days ago I started having Braxton hicks contractions. I did not have them at all during my first pregnancy. I gave birth to my daughter 3 weeks early & I'm wondering if Braxton Hicks contractions are a sign that labor might be early again or if you can have them for a few weeks before you give birth. From what I hear, you can safely have them throughout pregnancy and they do not indicate early labor. Thanks! :)

  • DS I was 34/35 weeks- somewhere in there. He was 10 days late. DD I was like 20 weeks and by 35 weeks they were pretty intense. Not painful really but REALLY tight and uncomfortable. She was a scheduled c-section 3 days before her due date but I was having real contractions that morning.

  • I started feeling them around 27 weeks, I think, but I didn't know what they were until around 30 weeks. You have them throughout pregnancy, you just don't start feeling them until later usually. I had DD at 39 weeks.

  • If I had them, I never felt them. I have a high pain tolerance.

As my doctor was prepping me for my daughter's planned C-section, she looked up at me at one point and asked if I was feeling the contractions I was having. I didn't feel a thing. THEN they gave me the pain meds.

  • With my first, it was about 35-36 weeks and she was right on time (not early, not late). With my second I started having them around 25 weeks and he was a bit early, not too early.

  • I only had them with one of my children, and they started at 20-22 weeks...she was born almost a week late, induced...so I wouldn't worry. They say that if they are coming at regular intervals, or more than 4 an hour, to go get checked out, though.

  • Around 25 weeks, this time. My OB tested me to make sure things were ok, and all is well. I am still having them, though they have slowed down.
