  • You should expect to see the room, the teacher, and lots of handouts.

All questions will be addressed in those handouts.

  • My DD has her "meet the teacher" thing tonight too. Usually they give out papers explaining the class schedule, how to contact the teacher & etc.

  • You really just listen. I'm sure they'll tell you about snacks, lunch, bringing in cupcakes for birthdays, reading to the class, really everything you need to know.

  • It's usually the time you take your childs supplies in, meet the Teacher/Principle, see where their classroom is, their seat, and any paperwork you need to take home. You should also be able to sign up to help out with parties etc. GL!

  • Our open house takes place in the spring. The 2nd graders have their move up picnic, the first graders go to the 2nd grade classrooms with there teachers, current kindegarteners go to the 1st grade classrooms with aides and substitutes and the current kindergarten teachers meet with the incoming kindergarteners. They do a simple art project, see the classroom and go for a bus ride to get them used to riding the bus. Unless you live across the street from the school everyone rides the bus. The principal meets with the moms/dads to talk about entering school. The president of the PTA/PTO/HSA is also there to speak. The who think takes about an hour to 1 1/2 hours. That's it.

  • We have ours tonight. Ugh.. The stupid thing is we don't find out who their teachers are until tonight. Wouldn't that waste time with thousands of parents trying to figure this out? Every school my daughter have attended, they get the info either by letter, on their report card, or it's on the door. We started school a week into it last year though so maybe this is how they do it.
