Any controversial facebook friends?

your kids teacher, pediatrician, etc?

I am often shocked to see some of the friendships that I do..... a moment ago my neighbor posted a photo of her kids eating smores and the dentist commented cute but hope they brushed after. The dentist = personal account, not the dental office business

WEIRD. I would never feel comfortable with things like that.

  • Sometimes you do kind of become friends with those people. Or maybe they were friends first and then she started taking the kids there for dental work. Who knows? Personally, I don't think I have any friends like that. All my friends are either family, high school friends, middle school/elementary friends, or other people that I know personally in life. No professional. I have a fan page for my professional life.

  • I don't see that friendship as "controversial". I thought you meant someone like me, I tend to have polar opposite opinions from the rest of my family. I also have several friends that have controversial opinions about religion and politics.

  • Why would it be weird to be friends with teachers, Dr's, etc. My sister is a teacher and is on Facebook. Should she not have any friends because of that? She also has kids in sports so she is friends with many of the parents who happen to have younger children in her class.

When I first read this question I thought you meant things such as I'm a Christian but am friends with an atheist who has a very foul mouth.

  • i have one of my high school teachers on mine. But I graduated many, many years ago so I suppose it's no longer controversial. Everyone else is family, friends, and co-workers. Oh, I do have my boss on there but whatever.

  • Only in that I have friends with vastly different points of view. Nothing a conflict of interest. My son's dentist is the mom of his friend. Which is why we see her in the first place...but I don't have her on face book. No teachers. No doctors. No one I work with.

  • never-i have thought about adding her daycare teachers cause most are my age and really great to chat with, but honestly I think i would rather not know if they post about parties or who they're sleeping with-i think they deserve to have a private life and can do what they want off the clock, but I think if I knew too much it might interfere with how I relate to them as teachers. I think they should be able to write they had a hard day at work, without a parent asking them why-I respect that they should be able to vent with their families and friends (as long as they don't break confidentiality of course) without their employers breathing down their necks :P

  • I have a dentist on my fb - we've known each other since we were 7. The fact that she's a dentist now does not make her unfacebook worthy.
