wanted: a great meatloaf recipe

I know how I make it but theres a way to make a topping for the meatloaf that involves-ketchup and brown sugar-I cant remember how to do that -does anyone know?

  • Here's a topping recipe I found - I hope it's what you're looking for.

    1/2 cup ketchup
    1/4 cup brown sugar
    2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
    1 teaspoon prepared mustard

    While meatloaf is baking, bring topping ingredients to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring to blend well. Spoon topping over the loaf and cook for about 10 to 15 minutes longer.

  • i dont know about that one but we put cornbread mix in ours..the whole family goes crazy over it during the holidays! try it out you guys might like it. o for every 3 lbs of meat use 1 box of just mix it in with the meat and put it in to cook the normal time.

  • this recipe is really good!
    * 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    * 1/2 cup ketchup
    * 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
    * 3/4 cup milk
    * 2 eggs
    * 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
    * 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
    * 1 small onion, chopped
    * 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
    * 3/4 cup finely crushed saltine cracker crumbs
    1. Preheat oven to 350 .lightly grease a 5x9 inch loaf pan.
    2. Press the brown sugar in the bottom of the prepared loaf pan and spread the ketchup over the sugar.
    3. In a mixing bowl, mix thoroughly all remaining ingredients and shape into a loaf. Place on top of the ketchup.
    4. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour or until juices are clear.

  • my grandmother's famous and best BBQed meatloaf in the world...the best you could ever have...
    when i make it i double the recipe...

    1 1/2 lb. ground beef
    1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs
    1 onion, finely chopped
    1 egg~beaten
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 15oz. can of Hunts tomato sauce
    1/2 cup of water
    3 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
    3 tbsp. brown sugar
    2 tsp. worcestershire sauce

    mix beef, crumbs, onion, egg, salt, pepper ans 1/4 can of tomato sauce. form into loaf & put in shallow pan about 7x10. combine the rest of ingredients for sauce & pour over meat loaf.

    bake 350 degrees for 1 hr. 15 min.

    you'll never go back to ketchup!!!! have a good one!

  • Heh. I just wing it every time with the seasoning, but I always stuff it chock full of broccoli, ham, and cheddar. Yum!  7lb meatloaf, here we come!

    I know that's not what you asked, but since two people already gave you answers I thought I'd take the time to drool.  :)
