Tween girl with low self esteem....

My almost 12 year old daughter has very low self esteem. Just wondering if any of you have any good book suggestions for her or me that might help?

This link has 24 books listed on that topic.  You could call your local library too.

  • What does she like to do? I say get her involved in something she loves, confidence comes through achieving something, :)

  • Do this write a lot of activities on a paper and hand it to her and tell her to choose 1 she would like to try.

  • Maybe you need to have her see a counselor? It is very unusual for a 12 year old not to like anything, maybe she is depressed?

  • reading a book is fine- but it's not going to fix the problem. My daughter started counseling around age 13 for depression and was in and out of it for about 4 years. She is doing better now, but it can be a long road and she still has her moments

also, get her involved in things she likes -that can/ does help as well

  • My dd also had low self esteem until she hit high school and now she is blossoming. Give it time but counseling also helped my dd, 16.

  • I agree with a previous poster, a counselor would be good
