# Ugh Math Help?

1. Determine whether the following equations have a solution or not? Justify your answer.

a) x2 + 3x - 15 = 0
b) x2 + x + 4 = 0
c) x2 – 4x - 7 = 0
d) x2 – 8x + 16 = 0
e) 2x2 - 3x + 7 = 0
f) x2 – 4x - 77 = 0
g) 3x2 - 7x + 6 = 0
h) 4x2 + 16x + 16 = 0

2. If x = -3 and x = 4, then form a quadratic equation.

3. What type of solution do you get for quadratic equations where D < 0? Give reasons for your answer. Also provide an example of such a quadratic equation and find the solution of the equation.

4. Create a real-life situation that fits into the equation (x + 3)(x - 5) = 0 and express the situation as the same equation.

• Im sorry I cant really help you. Like you I normally ask for help with math too. Im horrible at it. But im going to look in my textbook for you with these problems and maybe i can help. If not I hope someone else can help you!

• ahhh...im sorry i tried but i was never good at math either. there should be answers in the back of the math book-at least they were there when i was in school

x= 3 (Yes it does have a solution)

b) x2 + x + 4 = 0
x= -4/3 (Yes it does have a solution)

c) 2x + -4x + - 7 = 0
-2x = 7
x = -3.5 (Yes it does have a solution)

d) x2 â€“ 8x + 16 = 0
x= 8/3 (Yes it does have a solution)

e) 2x2 - 3x + 7 = 0
x = -7 (Yes it does have a solution)

f) x2 â€“ 4x - 77 = 0
x = -38.5 (Yes it does have a solution)

g) 3x2 - 7x + 6 = 0
x=6 (Yes there is a solution)

h) 4x2 + 16x + 16 = 0
x= -2/3 (Yes there is a solution)

• Perhaps you should read your book some more and figure it out if you are taking a class. I am not being a snot, I am just saying that if this is for the before mentioned on-line class--it is cheating:-)

• Im sorry but if i had some hard questions that i couldnt figure out, believe me, i would be on here asking as well :) i have no idea though, i am horrible at math
