Do you think a mom is selfish for...?

Dragging her kid to the gym or to her book club when the child needs to be doing homework? Do you think a mom is selfish if she keeps two gym memberships but whines that she doesn't have the money to get her child health insurance?

  • The health insurance one, yes, that should have priority over gym membership. But as far as taking the child to the gym or meetings, she may not have a sitter that she trusts, and the child may be able to do homework in those places.

Okay, that makes sense, but she doesn't make him take the homework, she doesn't even ask him about it or check it.

  • i think that anything that mom needs to do that is recreational should be done after the childs homework. health insurance should be a priority as well. IMO childrens needs should come above all else. that includes education, health, etc.

  • well yea it is selfish totally. the child comes first before anything the mother wants. especially for the health insurance... who ever this person is needs to grow up

  • Every child should have health insurance and any child qualifies for medical assistance, so there is absolutely NO excuse there. Why would anyone need two gym memberships? That's a waste of money. The other one, well like pp said, she could bring him with her and let him do his homework there. Just because someone has a baby, doesn't mean they should no longer take care of themselves. Sitting alone doing his homework, won't hurt him while mommy gets in a workout. When I workout, I sit dd on the floor in front of me with toys and I turn on the tv. Oddly, she seems more interested in the the area rug (shag) and the legs of the elliptical machine moving than her toys or the tv. Women should be able to work out, especially after having a baby.
