Has Fifty Shades peaked your interest in S and M? adult content

One of the authors I admire (Garth Stein) said he saw a girl with a tank top.

Here's his description:

When a girl w/ magenta hair & "REAL TEARS EXCITE ME" on her tank top has bruises all over her arms, I'm pretty sure some BDSM is going on.

Do you think this is a Fifty Shades influence?  Sounds like it to me.

  • I doubt it. A lot of people were into that before 50 Shades.

  • True, but now it's being commercialized.

  • What is so fantastic about this book? I've heard it's nothing more than a cheap romance with a little S&M thrown into the mix. Mindless drivel in other words.

BDSM was popular long before the books came out. It's not being commercialized, it just being noticed more.

  • I agree. I don't get it either. I just think it's ridiculous. I still won't try it either. S&M.

  • Light BDSM is quite fun, but it isn't for everyone. A smack on the ass. Blindfolded with a tie or scarf. Maybe hands tied to the headboard. A feather ran from head to toe.

Seriously, it isn't all whips and chains and leather/vinyl.

  • 50 Shades has done for BDSM what Justin Bieber had done for music. It's irrelevant.

  • No, I've not read it, and don't plan to...

My Hubby peaked my interest in it years ago ;-)

  • My interest was piqued years ago. I have no desire to read that series because of what I've heard about it, though. If I want to read something with BDSM in it, I'll read a book I know will be good. It's been my experience that a book this talked about is going to be very disappointing (Twilight, anyone?), with only a few exceptions.

  • No. I had a boyfriend who was into it and 50 Shades was fiction and fluff compared to reality.

  • It hasn't peaked my interest, only my bank account. :)
