  • Alex took steroids for 'performance' enhancement in 2003....sheesh....Who cares!!

And how is that any different than the 'performance' enhancement known as Viagra??!

  • Using steroids takes out the fair game of the sport. Steroid using athletes must get life-long suspension from the game.

  • Actually the kid’s first role model is their parents.

  • He' s making money by cheating and challenging previous sports records when he has an unfair advantage. SOME people enjoy playing games or living life without cheating, and having morals and real work ethics.
    Some people do care.

  • Michael Phelps is a very young man,who got caught up in ONE incident. He will pay the price losing his sponsors and the the fine example he has set for youngsters who want to swim and do well at it. A-Rod has been around long enough to know that steroids enhance your performance and cause damage to your body longterm. He chose to do this and its now caught up with him,and he should be suspended just the same. He's no better than Mark McGwire now.

  • smoking pot was for his own personal pleasure. using steroids is done to purposely gain an unfair advantage, if that doesn't mean anything to you and you say who cares, you must be the type to do whatever it takes to get an unfair advantage too. like lying, cheating, stealing. good luck with that way of life.

  • Why are these people to be role models it should be the kids parents......

Answer by Anonymous at 5:01 PM on Feb. 7, 2009

  • Phelps made the excuse that he's young. He's 23 (that's an adult) and I'd bet this was NOT the first "incident". It's the first time he got CAUGHT smoking dope. He had a DUI also a few years back. We can't keep making excuses for these celebs/sports icons/rock stars.
Lie, steal, cheat...then blame someone's the American way! PATHETIC!

  • It's sad when a person that the kid doesn't know and will never meet has to be their role models.
